Troubleshooting → Household rules & devices
Someone has our join code who should not
A join code is full control of the household, including the power to switch its rules off. There is a remedy, and it has a real cost you should know before pressing it.
What is probably going on
Most likely
The code was screenshotted, forwarded, or read over a shoulder. It used to be permanent; it is not any more.
Check this firstYou know or suspect the code has been seen by someone outside the household.
- Sign in at /account and choose to replace the join code.
- The old code stops working the moment you do, everywhere.
- Give the new code to every device in the household — that is the cost, and there is no version of this that avoids it.
Cause 2
You are also worried about the dashboard, which is a separate credential now. Signing in is a link to your address; the join code no longer opens the dashboard.
Check this firstYou want to end any session that might be signed in elsewhere.
- Sign in and choose to sign out everywhere. Every session ends and each device signs in again.

Still stuck?
Two doors, and neither of them is a queue you never hear back from.
Last checked 2026-08. Nothing on this page was written by a model — a made-up menu path is worse than no instruction at all, and this is the page somebody reads when they are already stuck.
